JANNE HERNES (born in Oulu, Finland) is a Finnish photographer based in Galway, Ireland. His work is inspired by the tradition of subjective documentary photography, which emphasizes the personal vision of the photographer while respecting documentary approach.

Hernes has developed his own visual style through years of practice working with digital and analogue techniques. His photographs have often a melancholic undertone that invites the viewer to contemplate.

Hernes works as an independent photographer.  He is available for assignments and projects. Please feel free to make contact.

Hernes is also a qualified teacher and adult educator, and has previously worked in education and non-profit sectors. He has a master's degree in social sciences, having studied philosophy, art education and contemporary culture.
