JANNE HERNES (born in Oulu, Finland) is a Finnish photographer based in Galway, Ireland. His work is inspired by the tradition of subjective documentary photography, which emphasizes the personal vision of the photographer while respecting documentary approach.
Hernes has developed his own visual style through years of practice working with digital and analogue techniques. His photographs have often a melancholic undertone that invites the viewer to contemplate.
Hernes is a teacher of philosophy and adult educator but works now as a photographer. He studied philosophy and art education.
