LAKELAND
A series of portraits from the Finnish lake district. The work consists of black-and-white giclée prints, printed by the artist.
The pictures were captured during two summer holidays spent with family and friends in Anttola and Saarijärvi. It was a time of pleasure and relief after winters dominated by the pandemic. Warm silvery lakes gave comfort, sensations and long-awaited chance to escape from the numb existence in confinement.
Those summers came with overwhelming intensity, like Nordic summers often do. They were greeted with startled joy, like forenoon light that dazzles the late riser. Days were filled with bathing, fishing, rowing trips and walks to the forest - when not replete with unashamed idleness.
Hours were spent in water. Dog days well wasted. Time now missed.
